The first New Forest Food and Drink Festival announces its headline events – and they’re amazing

Six course luxury dinner, a five-course fish and seafood lunch and a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party – just three of the headline events lined up for the first New Forest Food and Drink Festival which takes place this autumn. All three, and others have now been opened up for provisional booking.

The Festival was launched to celebrate the Forest’s rich culinary heritage, the variety of food from its natural larder, the drinks created by artisan brewers and wine-makers and the producers, chefs and retailers who create and sell it all.

There will be a week of culinary events, produce tasting, dishes and activities for every foodie – even the youngest ones – all taking place under 15 themes showcasing the very best food and drink the Forest has to offer, from October 31 – November 6 2016.

Headlining the Tastes of the Forest theme on Friday November 4 is a gloriously indulgent six-course tasting menu with wines being held at the five-star Chewton Glen Hotel near New Milton. Pre-dinner drinks will be served in the Morning Room, followed by a six course autumnal tasting menu with wines, in the summer house of this world-class hotel.

Earlier that day, at the historic Master Builder’s Hotel on the Beaulieu River, there will be a sumptuous five course lunch, starting with a glass of fizz, celebrating the Forest Fish & Fruits of our Sea theme. This meal is designed to specifically showcase the wide variety of fish and seafood available from the little-known Forest coast.

A Mad Hatters’ Tea Party to celebrate our Future Forest Foodies theme takes place at the Beaulieu Hotel on Saturday November 5. Formerly a coaching inn, the Beaulieu Hotel is a favourite with hikers and walkers and, hopefully, after November 5, young diners too!

Tickets for all headline events are limited, so these can be reserved on a provisional basis from the official New Forest Food & Drink Festival website. On 20 July those tickets will be allocated by random selection.
